"EJ, let's take a bath".
When EJ hears this, he would scamper and hide. It's been three days now and it's getting harder and harder for me to bathe him. I don't know what's gotten into him. Prior to this, he loves taking a bath. It would take a minimum of 30 minutes before I can take him out of his bath. Some other times he would even cry if I take him out of the tub. But not anymore!
It started 3 days ago. He was in the middle of a Barney show when I told him it's bath time. He didn't nudge so I went near him and started taking off his shirt. He started to cry so I said "Let's take a bath after Barney, ok?" He ignored me. After the Barney show I told him again that it's bath time and immediately took off his shirt and shorts. I didn't expect he would cry. Normally he would be excited to take a bath expecially if I say "you can brush your teeth now". I didn't mind his crying thinking he would stop when he's in the tub already. But my god, he kicked me and he was howling like mad.
As I've said, it's been three days now. The last two days I managed to trick him into the tub using some toys. And managed to wash his shoulders and down but not the face and the head. So this morning I was determined to show him who's the boss. While playing with his toys I called him from the tub. Maybe he thought I was brushing my teeth, so he came near me. But when he saw that I was preparing his bath he ran away and hid behind throw pillows. I told him firmly that it was time to take a bath and will not tolerate crying (I hope he undertstood..hehehe). So he started crying again and he fought me while I was trying to take his clothes off. I put him on the tub and he was bawling, weeping and pleading to take him out. I almost gave in. If one would hear us, one would think he was spanked or something. But I stood my ground. It seemed an eternity before we finished.
When EJ pooped tonight, I told Eric to go and wash EJ. It was his turn to see EJ's spectacles. Eric scooped EJ up and brought him to the tub to wash. I heard EJ cry for a while. But only for a while. I couldn't believe my ears! I was jealous, mad and frustrated because EJ didn't cry as much as he cried when he's with me. So I went to check what Eric did. What I saw made me laugh. EJ was on the bed and Eric was wiping his bum with a baby wipes. "Why didn't you wash him?" I asked. "Naawa ako, when I took his pants off, he tried to put it back on. It was a pitiful sight." I know this is not a laughing matter but I couldn't help but laugh.
EJ is showing his tantrums and his "my way" attitude. Imagine if I have two babies right now with no yaya (nanny)? How will I survive? Horrors! Hahaha

aha, at 18months old, he became the chef of the house????
Hmmm, Daddy, what are you in the house? Time to have some rules, daddy.
When bath time its bath time and no compromise from EJ.
I dont like kids crying also, but sometimes, they do (even nothing hurts) just because they want to impose power to parents .
Ay oo, matalinong bata, si EJ, he knows his parents love him so he played it to the full.
But Daddy is still the Boss.
Mommy is the right hand of Daddy. EJ is to obey.
Di ba?
This principle works for me as a parent it would work also to you Josiet.
hirap magpalaki ng anak oy, haha
Thanks for the insight. Ako din naaawa when EJ cries na but I understand that I have to be firm. Otherwise baka maging spoiled sya paglaki. C daddy kc uto uto ni EJ :)
Haha, normal lang na spoiled, nag iisa eh.Ba, si cheeky, spoiled din ke lolo michel.
What can we say?
If we spank them, we hurt ourselves more.
The joys of parenthood!
