I know why we feel at home immediately here in PP.
Locals look like Filipinos. Or vice versa. I've been mistaken for a Khmer in the groceries several times.
We watch The Filipino Channel (TFC). I was surprised to find out there's TFC here. When I found out, I was so happy. Now, I can watch The Buzz on TV every Sunday. LOL!
We eat Filipino food. There's a Filipino store here. The goods are expensive but nothing beats eating mango with bagoong!
I love it here in Phnom Penh because I can have the easy and laid back lifestyle I want but still have little luxuries on the side.

ay naku, just the mere mention of mangga and bagoong is making my mouth watery. i have to go hunting for mangoes this weekend.
ang saya! does the filipino store have a nice selection? ;-)
@ Kayni - goodluck with the hunting! =)
@ caryn - yeah, they do. but as i've said, it's a little expensive there =)
i'm happy that you're at home in PP...yes, forgot to mentioned you before about the tfc, limited but still getting signals from around, lolz! hubby and i love to watched tfc kahit he doesn't understand...
like you, i am always mistaken as a khmer, always talked to me in khmer but hubby's the one who's answering, nagugulat sila kasi they thought i am cambodian with a foreigner husband tapos sya pa iyong marunong mag-khmer, lolz! oppsss...nakalibre ako ng $20 sa angkor wat kasi was mistaken as a cambodian kasi went there with hubby's staff, eh, puro khmer, hehehe!
hmm, glad you went at filmart na, expensive nga lang but ok na din if you're craving for pinoy foods...can't wait to be back there very soon! *hugs*
I enjoyed your posts. Your documentation of your life overseas is fascinating.
I don't even know from what site I jumped from. I do a lot of bloghopping :)
@ Cheerful - hope to see you here soon! just buzz me if you're here =)
@ photo cache - thank you so much. your comment warmed my heart *grin*
:) I always get mistaken for a Khmer too. And hubby, who is Cambodian always gets mistaken for a foreigner. I like it though coz I can get lower prices when I go to the markets :D
May I add you to my links?
@ pinaywifespeaks - so do you speak khmer now? =)
yes, please. i'll add you to my links as well.
thanks for the add josiet. you're in my links page too.
i'm having a hard time learning khmer. hirap ng combination ng sounds nila but i know the very basics just enough to get me around. if not, I just take my daughter who's now really on her way to being fluent in Khmer after less than 8 months.
@pinaywifespeaks - mukhang ang hirap nga eh no? =)
kids below 7 yo learn another language faster and better than adults. yay for your daughter! =)
mahirap nga po, i have a book of it and a dvd para mapakinggan ko din pero hindi pa din ako natuto talaga, just learn the basics...:)
@ cheerful - at least you can practice khmer with ur hubby, right? =)
hehehe...sa bahay hindi naman kami nag-uusap ng khmer kasi hindi po sya cambodian kundi australian, eh, pero he is very fluent talaga! kakainggit nga, eh, ang galing...now, he is learning naman filipino, hehehe! :)
