Date Night

Hubby and I had a date last Friday night. It was just the two of us, the very first after a very loooong time. We left EJ at home with our helper.

I was actually nervous the whole time. I knew EJ was safe but I was still worried. I couldn't help it. I wasn't used to it.

Since we had been craving for Thai food the past week, we decided to go to a Thai resto. I checked the restaurant guide and Bua Thai at Phnom Penh Hotel came highly recommended.

I picked up hubby from his office at 6PM and we went straight to the restaurant.

The place was not crowded when we arrived. I was happy because it meant they'd be able to serve the food faster. I was famished. Hehehe!

We ordered glass noodle salad, river prawn tom yum, pad thai and sweet and sour fish. The glass noodle salad and pad thai were yummy. The tom yum and sour fish were just so-so.

Since it was just the two of us, we had a leisurely and enjoyable dinner. We had time to talk about stuff we usually had no time to talk about. We even talked about copper sinks. LOL!

Before we head home we dropped by their cakes and pastries section and bought a cake for EJ. I just feel like I had to for leaving him home.

We had a great time and I hope there'd be more date nights like this. And hopefully I'd feel less guilty.

No Pancit on My Birthday

Thirty and one odd year. That's how old I am starting yesterday. To a teenager that's already ancient. LOL!

I didn't get to celebrate my birthday the way I wanted to, but I know and feel that I am blessed. Some people don't even get to celebrate their 31st birthday.

I was set and ready to have a rockin' birthday but some things never really happen the way we expect them to happen. But I made the most out of what I could.

Fulfillment does not come from having everything you want. It's from taking delight in everything you have and everything that's being given to you. Of course, it doesn't hurt to aim for more.

Ahh life.

Thank you to all those who remembered my birthday. God bless!

Lazy Post

I just found out today that foreigners living in Cambodia can start and own 100% of the company/business. Absolutely a great news to someone like me planning to start a business here!

There's a new and cheaper way to filter a water - by using a gswf refrigerator water filter. It's cheap and provides a healthy and better tasting water.

We're going to Kep this weekend to celebrate my birthday. I am very excited and couldn't wait to eat lots and lots of seafood. LOL!

Next month is travel time again. We're flying to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). I couldn't decide if we should fly direct (fast but expensive) or fly with a stop over in Bangkok (cheaper but longer travel time).

I haven't enrolled in a driving class yet. Still busy with some things. Hopefully next week, I'll find time to go to a driving school.

I knew better than to start playing Farmtown and Farmville. But I still did. Now I am hooked. Bless me. LOL!

Whirlwind Manila trip

Hi! I am back in Phnom Penh after a weekend trip to Manila. EJ and hubby survived without me for three days and three nights. Now I can go on longer trips, LOL!

Seriously though, EJ survived but it was a little hard on him. It was hard for hubby too because he didn't know how to comfort a child looking for his mom. I guess it was the longest three days of our lives. Hehehe!

I am happy my trip was a success. Our house helper is here! Yippeee!!!

I can now focus on my goals before the year ends: start a business and permanently lose excess fats in my body. LOL! Maybe I should take a peek at the best diet pills review on the net so I know which pills to take. If I decide to take pills, that is.

I'm still getting back on the routine so I still have no time to visit your blogs. But I will, soon.

Oh I almost forget, it's my birthday in a few day's time =)

EJ's Birthday Party in School

I don't know why I was stressed preparing EJ's birthday "party" in school. There was nothing much to prepare. I only bought the cake, party hats, blowers, and balloons.

Stressful as it was the kids had fun, most especially EJ!

EJ is Three!

EJ turned 3 years old yesterday. His birthday party at school was moved to August 12 (Wednesday) because yesterday was still chaotic. It was their first school day for this school year, after all.

Since the party was moved, I decided to have a little party at home. I bought a cake, some balloons, KFC chicken and I ordered pancit from a Filipino restaurant.

We did not invite friends because it was a spur of the moment decision. I did not have time to prepare. We held his party at the rooftop.

Practicing to blow the candle.

The real deal. Make a wish baby!

Happy with his gift! He asked if it came from Santa! LOL.

And in case you noticed, I did not want to be included in the picture. I gained weight again! Ugh. I might have to try Stimerex ES just to jumpstart losing weight.

To EJ, Happy birthday my baby. You're the best gift we've ever received. Thank you for giving us joy and happiness. We love you so much.

Homemade Donuts et al

Yesterday I was craving for a Krispy Kreme donut. Knowing that there's no Krispy Kreme here, I tried to make my own version of the original glazed donut.

I have never made any donut or even made any dough before and I don't have any mixer and shaper for a donut but I tried anyway.

Here's my version of the original glazed. LOL!

Never mind the shape. It's not the melt in your mouth Krispy Kreme but it will do. Hubby and EJ like it!

On to other things... Last Friday, EJ stayed in the bedroom for quite sometime while I was cooking lunch. I knew something was up because he normally does not stay in the bedroom that long. I turned off the stove and peeked inside the room.

This is what I saw:

EJ said "Mom, I drew our car with Daddy, Mommy, EJ and the driver inside it. It's nice!" I couldn't bring myself to be mad at him. Sigh!

Yesterday afternoon was barbeque time again. It was my turn to grill the food.

EJ said "Daddy, take a picture of mommy and baby."

EJ is at his happiest biking freely at the rooftop.

Car Shopping

This morning we went window shopping for second hand cars (or more like third and fourth, LOL!)

Our friends, Zarah and her hubs, were so nice and took time to bring us to a car shop. They helped us look around and asked for prices. (Thank you so much to both of you!)

There were so many cars to choose from but some of the cars' prices were a little expensive. I don't know how to haggle or ask for a lower price. Zarah said, the trick is to ask for half the price of the asking price. But I don't know how to do it. It's not like I am asking for a few dollars discount or dealing with dental discounts.

Anyway, we did not buy a car today but at least we have an idea of how much a certain car is.

We're still going to look around. And hopefully we'll get a good deal.

Flying Solo

I'll be flying to Manila next Thursday...alone. This will be my first time to travel without hubby or EJ. I usually travel with both of them or sometimes with EJ only but never on my own. I've travelled to Manila two times with EJ this year. While EJ is a good travel companion most of the time, I am usually stressed. So I am looking forward to a stress-free travel next week.

But at the same time, I am also worried about leaving hubby and EJ behind. It will be my first time to be away from EJ. I am not sure how EJ will take it. He's so used to being around me 24/7. Even hubby is a little worried. He's never been alone with EJ.

But I need to go home for some important things. If only there's a straight flight from Phnom Penh to Manila, it would have been easier to bring EJ with me. But as it is, I will stop over in Bangkok for several hours before taking another flight to Manila. Then coming back, I need to sleep in Bangkok before flying here in PP. Such an inconvenience.

Anyway, I hope I'd have time to visit a Spa. I need to have a facial scrub. And how to get rid of blackheads, anyway? Will a facial scrub do it? Let's see.

I hope I'd have a productive vist back home.

First Time Out

When you have a toddler at home, it is impossible to have glass furnitures, glass tile or glass accessories at home. It is not about him breaking the things but more so about him getting hurt.

EJ broke one of my tea cups today. I don't think it was intentional. He was holding it and was warned about being careful but he still dropped it.

We were angry not because he broke the cup but because he did not listen and we were also scared he got hurt.

We put him in a corner and told him not to move. I thought he wouldn't listen again. But surprisingly he did. He stayed there and after a moment he must have realized what's happening and so he cried. Hehehe.

We told him to stay put and that he can only move after 10 minutes.

This is his first time out. I didn't think he'd grasp the idea but he did. He's really a fast learner =)

While waiting for his time to finish, he said "Mommy, I'm sorry."

EJ is Turning 3

Before my birthday, it will be EJ's birthday first. He's turning three on August 10.

Right now, there's a one week school break in EJ's school. But regular classes resume on August 10. I am glad EJ will be celebrating his birthday with some kids. It makes a difference.

For his birthday, we ordered a cake, packed snacks for his classmates and some balloons to be delivered to his school.

He seems excited about his birthday. When he turned two last year, he was still not aware and did not fully understand what a birthday is. But now he has a concept of what a birthday is. And he's involved with the preparation. He even chose the design of his birthday cake.

Hubby and I are planning to give him books as gift for his birthday. I am sure he'd love it.

First Party

We had friends over at the rooftop for a barbeque and pizza last weekend. It was my first meeting with Zarah (my cousin's friend) and her husband. And it was reunion with Mel who used to work in Maldives before but is based in PP now.

I looked forward to this event and I had a great time. It was Zarah's and Mel's first time to meet as well but we were chatting like we've known each other for some time already. We forgot to take pictures at the rooftop because we were busy laughing and having a good time.

We moved to our apartment when it started to rain. Here's the group. Hubby took the photo.

Zarah and Rob, thank you for the tips about living in PP. And thank you for the ice cream. EJ loves the chocoyeyt ice cream.

Mel, thank you for the shopping tips. And you're right. The pizza you brought was delish. Thank you.

We really had a great time. Let's drive up to Kep and eat lots of seafood on my birthday =)
