Soon it's Christmas

Christmas Eve will be in Himawari Hotel. We've been quite unsure about this. But in the end we've decided that it would be convenient and less stressful if we eat out on Christmas Eve. And it doesn't hurt that the price of the buffet is less steep compared to the other hotels around. I also love the fact that the dinner will be in a garden with a view of the riverside. They'll have christmas carols and live music.

Christmas couldn't come soon enough. I am excited! If I don't get to blog before then, Merry Christmas everyone.

EJ's Christmas Party in School

Yesterday was EJ's last day for the second term in school. In the afternoon, the school organized a christmas party for the children and the parents of the kids.

We were told that the kids would sing some christmas songs at 5:15pm. By 4:05pm, I was a bit hysterical because hubby was still in his office. We agreed that we'd leave the house at 4:00pm.

It was EJ's first performance and I didn't want to miss it. Thankfully we made it EJ's school early.

They made an effort to make the school christmas-y.

EJ with one of his bestfriends, Osuke.

At 5:15pm, the teachers gathered the kids. But by then, the place was already full. They asked the parents to move back but the parents were hard-headed. LOL! The kids sang with a jampacked crowd. It was crazy. I had to climb on a train just to see EJ.

They sang 4 songs. It was sweet and short. I guess I expected more from the school. They should have made an effort to make it more organized. It was a bit messy. Nevertheless, I am so proud of EJ. He knew the songs and he looked like he had fun.

All the kids received gift from their teachers/school.

With EJ's teacher, Sarah.

Holiday Itinerary

I just realized that I might have signed up myself to a possibly stressful holiday season. With all the activities lined up, I only thought of the fun that comes with it. Never the stress.

Here's our sched this holiday season:

Dec 25 - fly to Bangkok. Stay overnight. There is no direct flight from Phnom Penh to Manila.

Dec 26 - fly to Manila. Run errands in the afternoon and do some late and last minute christmas shopping.

Dec 27 - fly to Surigao. Then another 3-4 hours land trip before arriving home.

Dec 28 - big day, big party. It's my parent's 40th wedding anniversary and blessing of my brother's beach house. Pretty excited about this. My brother's property is very nice, probably even nicer than myrtle beach sc.. Hehehe. Just kidding.

Dec 29-30 - highschool reunion. I am actually excited but equally dreading this as well. The reunion promises an unending supply of booze. I am not up to this anymore. One bottle of beer will surely knock me down.

Jan 1 - new year party at home. I promised I'd be in charge of the food. Ugh!

Jan 2 - fly back to Manila. Run some errands again.

Jan 5-7 - short trip to Hongkong.

Jan 8-9 - back in Manila.

Jan 9 - fly back to Phnom Penh with a short stop over in Bangkok.

Now, does that look stressful or what? LOL! But I am still excited and looking forward to our crazy schedule.

Sunday Food Trip

I have been craving for a char kway teow for the past month. I love this dish.

I know it's being served at Singapore Kitchen but we haven't made a trip there.

Yesterday after a foot massage, hubby and I went there. We ordered char kway teow and hainan chicken for take away.

The char kway teow was good but not better than the one I used to eat in KL. I guess I really miss this dish because I almost ate everything. Goodbye diet. LOL!

The hainan chicken was also good. And the price was even better. We'll definitely go back to Singapore Kitchen again.

Cafe Monivong

We had dinner again at Raffles Hotel Le Royal's buffet restaurant, Cafe Monivong, last night.

Here are the reasons why we keep on coming back here:

{Chocolate Fountain}

The strawberries waiting to be submerged in the choc fountain.

Caviar. Actually, I don't eat this. Hahaha!

I ate mostly sushi and sashimi. I love their salmon. And every Friday night it's seafood buffet. We had lobster last night. Yummy!

And they have nice hallway. LOL!

If I am too lazy to cook our Christmas eve dinner, maybe we'll just come here.

Christmas Party with Friends

One of our friends, Che, is going on an early Christmas vacation so we decided to have an early christmas party.

We went to Naga World's Korean Grill for lunch. Mel, who works at Naga World shouldered our bill contrary to what we've agreed. But a free lunch is a free lunch. LOL! Thank you Mel.

At Naga World's lobby. EJ and Ate Mitos joined the party too.

Busy checking the menu....

My order. A lunch set of grilled pork belly, comes with a lot of side dishes.

Che and Mel exchanging gifts.

EJ with Tita Zarah.

Fabulous pinays in Phnom Penh. This is my blog so I can say that. LOL!

I had a great time. I am so happy and lucky to have these beautiful ladies as friends. Looking forward to more coffee dates, shopping trips, and wonderful friendship.

On Again

We're going to Hongkong after all. Hello Disneyland!

I am so excited for EJ. I hope he'll have a fantastic time there. The trip to Hongkong is a belated christmas gift to ourselves. We're flying there on January 5 next year.

It's going to be a busy Christmas and New year for us.

Looking forward to it.

EJ's Progress in School

Yesterday, hubby and I went to EJ's school to meet up with his teacher. It was time for EJ's evaluation.

I was a little nervous. I know how EJ is at home but I don't know much how he is in school. I get little feedbacks once in a while from his teachers but not the whole story.

So here it is. Bad stuff first.

According to the teacher, EJ is active in school. That's good. But sometimes he gets a little hyper. If he had a choice, he'd rather play with his friends than do his artcrafts. They'd run and chase around the room sometimes knocking things down. Good thing the light fixtures are not on the walls, otherwise they'd knock it down too =) He also has a little problem following instructions like lining up, putting things away, etc. The teacher said, she would be tougher this week to see how EJ would react.

And the good stuff.

EJ is very friendly. He has a lot of friends, mostly Japanese =) The teacher said that he has good communication skills and his friends have learned a lot from him. And I think this is true. At the Christmas Bazaar we attended last Sunday, the mom of EJ's Japanese friend told me that her daughter is learning English from EJ =) The teacher also mentioned that EJ has very sharp memories. He easily learns new songs. He knows his alphabets, numbers, shapes, colors, etc. But what I didn't tell the teacher is that EJ has learned all that a while ago already. Teacher said EJ is smart.

It's nice to know all these things from another person. But what the teacher told us did not really surprise me. More or less he is like that at home. I think I can explain why EJ would rather play with his friends than do his work in school. Maybe it's because he doesn't have playmates at home. We don't have neighbors with kids and EJ only get to interact with kids when he is at school.

He is also a bit stubborn and doesn't do well in following instructions especially when he is told to put his toys away after playing. Maybe because I let him get away with it sometimes at home. But we'll work on it.

Early Christmas Party

I had a great time with some friends yesterday. It seemed that whenever we are together, our time isn't enough. We were planning our Christmas party but guess what happened. We have forgotten to set a time and a place to meet. LOL!

I am looking forward to this early Christmas party eventhough I have no dress to wear yet. I am sure the girls would all look lovely and I would look dowdy. Hahaha!!!

We're having kris kringle too. I don't know what to buy for $10. Maybe Logo usb drive? Hahaha, I am sure they'd kick me out of the party if they find out that's what's inside my gift.

I guess it's time to go shopping for a dress and a gift.
