January 31, 2011

We went to Sorya yesterday to buy some dvds and to look for a document imaging store. On our way out, I saw this:

I was intrigued with the way they cover the phones. We stopped by and watched.

Cambodians like to have their mobile phones and laptops covered or wrapped with a plastic so when they decide to sell their phones, it would still look new.

I saw foreigners lining up too. And I saw a couple of iPads being wrapped up. Cool.

Before I left, I had my iPhone covered too. LOL! I paid $7. I think it's worth it.

January 31st

First month of 2011 is about to end. So fast, huh? Where did the time go?

Well, January has moved so fast. I am not sure I have been that much productive. January has been like an extension of celebration. It felt that way, really.

But I wouldn't say I have been lazy.

I have been blogging regularly and I have been making jewelries almost everyday. In fact I have two more consignments this month. I am pretty proud of that.

Health wise, it's a sad case.

I have lost about 5kgs last December prior to the holidays of course. And then I gained back 2.5kgs as of this writing. Ugh!

I should do a detox treatment or I should go back to Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet and continue with my exercise.

I will wipe out the food in the ref today LOL! And start the rigid diet tomorrow. LOL!

Anyway, I am excited about February. I can feel it's going to be as great as January.

Do You Like That?

It's Sunday morning here in this part of the world. When I was still single, Sundays meant lazing around. But now, it's totally different. How can you just stay in bed with a hyper active toddler in the house?

So we're off to Kidzcool in a bit and have fun with kids games and activities. It's going to be fun. And for lunch, it's going to be pizza in the new pizzeria in town. EJ said, mom, is that a new pizza place? It looks like Luigi's pizza (from Garfield show). TV talk. Hahaha!!!

I remember something EJ said which I forgot to write here.

We were all in the car. EJ was doing circus all over. Hubby told EJ to stay put but EJ wasn't listening. Frustrated, hubby said: EJ, if you don't stop that I am going to punch you in the face. Do you like that?

EJ answered: Daddy, if you punch me in the face, do you like that?

I love kids, especially the talking ones. Not only are they adorable but they have the power to make you speechless and melt your heart. Oh, I love my son to bits.

I hope there's still some time later to go to Central Market. I want to buy some fresh prawns at the wet market.

Bye for now.

Honey and Lemon

I was able to do a lot of things today because I am 99% okay now. I went to the grocery, bought Kichler lighting and paid some bills.

I found something very useful to me yesterday. I was with my friend at the pharmacy looking for a chinese cough syrup. Unfortunately it wasn't available in that store.

I didn't want to to another store because hubby was on the way to pick me up already. But before I left that store, I saw this:

I took one and paid for it. I told my friend I will just go to the other store later.

I didn't expect that this candy will ease my irritating and dry cough. Honestly, with only one candy I felt a bit better.

When I went home, I still drank my ever reliable warm honey and lemon. Then I had two or three more candies before I slept.

I slept peacefully the whole night. And this morning, my cough wasn't dry and irritating anymore.

Bought this whole pack for only $2.50. Definitely my best buy this week.

Not Well

EJ's feeling okay now. Guess who's sick after him?

I have this irritating and dry cough now. I've got sniffles too. Ahhh..all the vitamins I take everyday are useless. LOL! Or maybe I just have a low immune system.

I am not feeling well but I refuse to lie on the bed. I think I could make this go away by just drinking lime and honey. It's my all time fave remedy and it works all the time.

Hopefully I will feel a lot better tomorrow. It's Friday and I want to go out with friends.

Hoping your week is great. Take care!

Monday is Always Hectic

It's Sunday night. I'm glad EJ is sleeping already. He needs his rest. He has cough and colds again. I am worried because every month I think he gets the common colds and cough.

I am not sure what to do anymore. He takes his vitamin C everyday. I let him eat his veggies and fruits. I make sure he washes his hands regularly and if we are in the car, I wash his hands with rubbing alcohol. So I don't know why he's sick every month.

The good thing about EJ when he is sick is that he doesn't look like he's sick. He is still the usual active and chatty boy.

Tomorrow's Monday and it's back to school for him. I hope he gets his rest tonight and he'll wake up feeling great.

Meanwhile, I have some things I need to do myself.

I am going to post my "for sale" items in a local network tomorrow. I have a Cyber Monday going on in my house tomorrow. LOL!

We bought several gadgets over the holidays as presents and now I realize we just have too much. So I am going to sell some of them like my netbook, a canon g9, two celfones, a router and maybe EJ's V-tech toy.

If you're in Phnom Penh and you're interested, drop me a line here.

Anyways, hope you had a lovely weekend. Hope your Monday is not as hectic as mine.

I Was About To

Hubby and I have our Friday dinner dates. I usually pick him up in his office and by 6pm we will be in a restaurant. We will talk (from best prenatal multivitamin, to anything we can think of), have dinner and by 8pm we will be home. We don't stay late because we don't want to leave EJ home that long (of course EJ is with Ate). And going out without EJ makes me feel guilty.

Anyway, last Tuesday, hubby and I celebrated our anniversary. As mentioned in my previous post, we had dinner at Sofitel and later had drinks at Qba.

Yes, we had drinks and we stayed late. I felt guilty and uneasy but I decided I should learn how to deal with my own separation anxiety. Hahaha!!! I know EJ is in good hands so off we went to have a few drinks and some dancing..

Qba is a bar located at Cambodiana Hotel. We heard good stories from friends who have been there. The band is an all Filipino band. I think there were eight of them.

They were good. I like their music. I was ready to dance when they started accommodating customers to sing on stage.

At first it was okay. Then it got annoying. It seemed a lot of customers wanted to sing that night. Some people started to leave. I was annoyed too. I mean, I came there to listen to good music and to dance.

These people think it was okay to impose their bad voices on the paying customers. Why didn't they just go to a karaoke, right? When the third "volunteer" sang one more song, we left the place.

I hope to go back there again. Hopefully no more "volunteers" anymore. It just ruins the show and people's momentum.

Should I?

We were in U-Care yesterday to buy EJ's medicine for cough and cold. I saw something which caught my eye: Weight loss Aid!!!

I took the box out of the shelf and examined it further. It said, it's the safest diet supplements you could ever find. Guaranteed to help you shed pounds in 14 days.

I looked at the price. Twenty nine dollars. Hmmmm....not bad. Should I try it?

I did the South Beach Diet before Christmas. It was effective. I lost about 5kgs. During the holidays I indulged and since then I haven't stopped eating. LOL!

I was thinking of going back to phase 1 of SBD because I have gained 2 kgs again. Arrrrgggg.

I asked hubby to join me. But I don't think he could survive without any rice or carbs for two weeks. And as for me, I don't know too. LOL!

I put the box back into the shelf. I will think about it first.

Or maybe I should just exercise more.

Saturday, Family Day

I woke up pretty early for a Saturday. Woke up at 5:50am today. I usually sleep in late on Saturday, around 7am. Hehehe. I am an early riser.

So today, we're off to look at refurbished laptops, eat out for lunch and buy EJ books about insects. He's been bugging me about it since they talked about insects in school this week.

He drew the life cycle of butterfly for me the other day. I was impressed. I mean, he drew it out from his memory. I think that was pretty good.

The butterfly cycle according to EJ, (top left, clockwise): It starts as an egg. It becomes a caterpillar. Then a cocoon. And finally into a beautiful butterfly. Pretty good huh? LOL!

So off we go now. Hope you have a lovely Saturday!

Food Trip 009

I am joining Food Trip Friday again this week. I've been busy so I took a break.

I have been craving for meats lately, so when my friend and I had lunch last Tuesday, I told her to meet me at T-Bone Steak House. I was particularly craving for their Pork BBQ Ribs.

Free bread

My friend was running late so I ordered some appetizer for me.

When my friend arrived, I told her to try the pork bbq ribs. This is her plate with sauteed vegetables on the side.

This is my plate with mushroom and garlic as my side dish. I love the mushrooms and I love my meat. Yum!!! I always ask them to put the sauce on the side because I don't want the sauce to overpower the taste of the pork ribs.

Suffice it to say, it was a really great lunch. I forgot to ask them though if they do a restaurant delivery. It would be great if they do. I don't have to go to their resto once I crave for meat again.

Bread is Ready, Coffee is Done

There's a new coffeeshop in Phnom Penh. It seems like coffeeshops are sprouting like mushrooms lately. I see a new coffeeshop in every corner of the city now. It makes me wonder how good the business is.

Last Tuesday I met my friend for coffee in Bread is Ready Coffee is done, in short BRCD, a new coffeeshop.

The place looks really nice outside with bricks and all. The inside is also nice. I just didn't like the dirty floor.

They didn't want me to take pictures of the inside. But being the sly me, I asked my son to pose for me, hihihi.

Anyway, I ordered cheesecake for EJ, bread for me (that's why I will never succeed in my weight loss diets) and cafe latte.

The cheesecake wasn't that good, the bread and the coffee was okay. I think I will still hang out in either Gloria Jeans or Brown. Unless I find a better one.

Well, I will keep on exploring.

The weather's been nice again. I try to wake up earlier than usual because I like to savour the "cold" Phnom Penh. It's usually the coldest around 5 - 6am.

Anyway, aside from the nice weather, we've been having nice clouds as well. I was on my way to buy groceries when I saw this small cottony clouds. I love it.

These two were taken during lunch time around our neighborhood.

And this last one, I like just because.

I think will try to take pictures of clouds from now on.

World of Letters

EJ immersed in the the world of letters...

Just a happy parent here.

I started reading books to EJ when he was only 3 months old. And since then, we have accumulated quite a number of books already.

We always bring him to the bookstore and let him buy whatever he wants and let him linger as long as he wants. We usually stay an hour or two.

Let us encourage our kids to read =)

Wooden Anniversary

Thanks to all who greeted us on our anniversary. Much appreciated.

We had a great time last night. We went to Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra for our anniversary dinner date. Sofitel has just recently opened late December 2010.

I checked their website and found out they have four restos: Italian, Chinese, Japanese and one International buffet resto.

We chose La Coupole, the international buffet because we are gluttons. LOL! Seriously, we chose the resto because they have a nice ambience (high ceilings with chandeliers, french style) and we could have a Japanese, a Chinese, and Western food all in one roof.

We arrived early at the hotel. I think it was only about 5:30pm. So since the restaurants were still closed, we had cocktails at their Lounge Bar first.

I had a Singapore sling and Hubby had Mojito =)

A single Singapore sling never fails to get me tipsy. Hahaha!!! But that was good because it loosened my tongue. Not that I get shy around hubby. It's just that when I am tipsy, I can be pretty opinionated and hubby finds it funny. Hahahaha!!! We discussed a varied topic, from our dream home, to old age and more. We had a good talk.

At about 7pm, we moved to La Coupole. Tapos galit-galit na muna kami. LOL!

There were only a few guests and since the resto is big, it felt like we were almost alone.

Chicken something. Hahaha. I always forget to get the name of the dish.

Duck station.

Salad area. I love this dome type that holds the greens. I want one in my dream house.

My all time favorite.

Sweets station, eclairs, mousse, cheesecake, etc

Chocolate fountain. I would have loved to dip a marshmallow here.

Grilled seabass. I love it that they have live stations. They have grill, pasta, and the duck stations.

My diet have been ruined again. Well, you only celebrate your anniversary once a year so I guess it's okay. That's what I told myself. Hahaha!

Sofitel's buffet is a little bit expensive than Raffles Le Royal. But I don't mind the difference. The staff were polite and nice. The service was prompt. The place is really nice. We'll bring EJ here next time.

After dinner we went to Qba, disco place with live band. I'll make a separate post for it.

So yeah, it was a really great night. Thanks Hon for everything! Happy Anniversary again. Cheers to more wonderful years ahead!

To Old Age and Beyond

"Basta't kasama kita, walang kailangan pa. Wala nang hahanapin pa, basta't kasama kita."

Today, hubby and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. It's been a wonderful ride so far. Not without little hiccups though but what great relationship doesn't have one, right?

Did you say, you want cigars as present? Sorry hon, I couldn't find any here =)

Happy Anniversary Hon! Cheers to the many adventures and misadventures we'll go through together.

Moral Obligation to Share

I got this from my inbox. I know it's one of those chain mails but I think this is useful and nice. So I am posting it here word for word and the pictures too.

I Cook, Therefore I am

When I am not that busy, I tinker in the kitchen. Well, even when I am busy, I still find time to cook. I love cooking, ever since.

I wasn't always confident with my cooking, though. I remember when hubby and I were newly weds, it was always dinner outside or hubby cooking dinner for us.

I already knew how to cook basic stuff then like adobo, sinigang, tinola, etc but I was hesitant to cook because hubby was and still is a good cook.

So how did I gain confidence? Little by little I tried to take away the pots and pans from hubby. With hubby's enthusiastic reply to my dishes, I became more adventurous. I tried cooking our favorite Thai dishes. And it all received wonderful responses from hubby of course.

Later on, I tried cooking for my friends and hubby's friends. With positive feedbacks, I am now ready to put up a restaurant. NOT! LOL!

I am just kidding! Don't take me seriously. I am no chef. I know that. I just cook whatever pleases me and it's just fortunate that the people who ate my dishes also liked it.

The other day, I cooked this dish. It's a chicken liver stir fry with peas, red pepper and a certain mushroom (tenga ng daga in Filipino).

When hubby arrived, he asked "Are we having pancit?" I said "No, why do you ask?" "Because that looks like the ingredients for a pancit" he said. Hahahaha!!!

To my credit, he said later on that the dish tasted good. I thought so too.

I can see myself cooking until I get old. The only downside to this love affair is that I may have to buy phenphedrine all the time.

Sigh. Why does it always have a downside. Right?

You'll be Mine

I am excited to go to Lucky, a local grocery, today. No, it's not because they have a new stock of solutions for acne, but because I will be dropping off about 30 coupons today.

What's so special about these coupons? Well, first price of this lucky draw is a Chevy Spark 2011! Whatever that is. Hehehe. What matters to me is it's a car. LOL!

I have accumulated about 160 coupons or so. I can feel that I will win the first prize. LOL!

I don't need a car. But if I win the car, I am going to sell it. Easy cash! Hahahaha!!!

The final draw will be on January 29. Let's see if I will have a red car in our garage pretty soon.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Busy Makes Me Happy

As if I don't have enough on my hands, I have made another project. Well, it's not really a big project. Just a small one. Anything that makes me busy, makes me happy.

My little project for this month is to sort out our family pictures, especially from our little travels. I need to choose one of each and have it printed and put in a frame or sort of a postcard. I think, postcard printing should be a breeze. There's a lot of printing shops around town and surprisingly they are cheap. That's one of the few things here which I can take advantage of.

I am just thinking, it's 12 days already into the year 2011. Pretty fast, huh? I am happy everything's looking well. I heard this year is going to be a lot nicer compared to the previous years. Well, bring it on! I am ready and I will not be lazy. That's my promise. Hahaha!!!

This year, I am hoping my little jewelry business will grow bigger. I am doing something about that. And I am happy to report I will be displaying in two more locations around Phnom Penh end of this month. Which means I will be busy, busy, busy. I am hoping they will do well just like the first one.

Happy Wednesday everyone. Let's keep moving!

Canopy Walk

Last night at the bedroom, hubby showed me the "movie" he has lovingly put together. It's about EJ growing up. Hubby has put together pictures of EJ since birth. I like it.

I have been meaning to sort out EJ's pictures but haven't found the will yet. Hubby beat me to it.

Well, I guess it helps if you have a new Macbook Pro. Hubby just bought his Macbook Pro last week and I couldn't blame him if he's attached to it. Just like I am in love with my iPhone4 - the one hubby gave me last Christmas. Hahaha!!!

He's been acquainting himself with the apple world and right now, he's busy with the "movie" he's making.

Anyway, as I was also helping him with the picture, I saw our pictures in Subic taken last 2009.

This was in Subic Adventure. That's EJ, hubby, my brothers Kuya Jed and Mano Jeff, moi and my sis in law, Ate Mai. We did a canopy walk. It wasn't the fat burners I was hoping but I am sure I burned some serious calorie during that walk! Hahaha!!!

Look how stiff I was in the pictures? LOL! I was really scared.

I have done small steps into finally conquering my fear of heights like parasailing in boracay, this canopy walk in Subic. Next on my list is to bungee jump from Macau tower. Or maybe not. Hahaha!!!
